Hellboy by Mike Mignola
Have we mentioned how much we enjoyed Hellboy II: The Golden Army?
As others have noted, the silver-screen Hellboy doesn’t necessarily jibe with Mike Mignola’s comics. The Keeper, however, generally tries to view films as separate entities from the source materials (Could you imagine a Lord of The Rings triology that was perfectly faithful to Tolkien?) and believes director Guillermo del Toro (as well as Mignola, himself) does a good job of translating the comics’ essence while keeping things accessible for the general public.
(Such as Mrs. Keeper, who fell in love with Hellboy’s take-no-sh*t attitude … )
Ultimately, the Keeper family was won over by del Toro’s imaginative visuals and the acting skills of Ron Perlman, Selma Blair and Doug Jones - who effectively brought their characters to life and ensured the high-tech film still possessed a heart.
Plus, we admit to some amusement that a hellspawn created to usher in the apocalypse can star in a “lighter” movie than The Batman. That’s just the way things are these days …

Its apologists like you that will keep us from ever having a big screen Tom Bombadil!
