We didn’t really follow the promotional materials news released at the New York City Comics Convention this week because … well, we don’t really care all that much about what the Big Two have in store for readers in the upcoming months.
However, Internet friend John Feer informed your humble host that DC is planning to release an all-ages Supergirl title through its Johnny DC imprint!
According to Comic Book Resources, the series will be called Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures In The Eighth Grade and feature the art of one Linda Lee.
(Great name, by the way.)
Although we’re not familiar with Lee’s work - she apparently drew the “Kids Gravity” strip in the late, lamented Disney Adventures- the Keeper naturally welcomes any attempt to create a Supergirl comic little girls may actually want to read.
Still, we can’t help but recall a time when an all-ages super-hero comic didn’t require a special imprint to exist. It was just, you know, a comic book by DC, Marvel, Charlton, etc.
Oh well. Guess those days are long gone.
