We aren’t necessarily fans of Charlton Heston’s stance on gun control or other socio-political issues, but the outspoken actor did march with Dr. Martin Luther King and starred in one of our all-time favorite movies - the original Planet Of The Apes.
So, in honor of his memorable portrayal of the larger-than-life George Taylor - and really, no other actor could have pulled the role off so effectively - here is one of the film’s most memorable lines:
Rest in peace, Mr. Heston. Somewhere, there is something better than man …

The guy was a gun worshipper…but I can’t hold it against him, he is in like a dozen of my favorite movies.
Moreover he insisted that Orson Welles direct “Touch of Evil” for Warner Brothers which will get Heston into the “book of life” for sure.
