Supergirl by Leonard Kirk and Robin Riggs
When it comes to the post-Crisis Linda Danvers/Earth Angel Supergirl, fans can’t decide whether the character was a pretentious mess or a complex, three-dimensional heroine who put the original Kara Zor-El to shame.
(We kind of fell in the middle of the pack: Loved Peter David’s stories but wished the same care and intelligence could have been applied to the Superman’s beloved cousin.)
One aspect of the series, though, should be beyond debate: Leonard Kirk and Robin Riggs’ artwork. They drew Matrix/Linda as healthy, attractive young females who may not have qualified for a Maxim cover but did express the intelligence and emotions of real, grown-up women.
It’s too bad the team wasn’t considered “hot” enough to see the series to its end.
