Your friendly neighborhood Keeper flipped through the latest issue of Supergirl and - much to our delight - found Ale Garza’s art quite pleasing.
The manga influence suits Kara, and Garza even manages to draw a teenager who looks and acts like - *gasp - a teenager!
But as for the story, well…um… er.
Let’s just say it was just a bit more coherent than Rob Liefeld’s original Youngblood series.
Is this really the same Joe Kelly who wrote Deadpool?

Is there any truth to the rumor that Joe Kelly took over the writer’s sinecure on Supergirl because “No one else would take it”?
If so then that speaks volumes about DC’s commitment to the character.
I can’t get excited about this particular plot twist since Kelly will either completely disregard it in issue #18 or else bungle it in some gruesome fashion.
To quote Abraham Lincoln “There is bad faith somewhere in this”.
I think that comment was meant as a joke. Soon after the interview, I believe Gail Simone said she would have done the series if asked …
Kelly was just ribbing himself.
And no, THAT is not the original Kara. She is either part of whatever mind game the Phantom Zone criminals (if that’s who they are) are playing OR an alternate Kara that ties into the multi-earth stuff DC is now playing around with.
But, like I said - confusing story, neat art.
