Fantastic Flaw

FF 542

Thanks to Dwayne McDuffie - who can apparently do no wrong these days - we finally have a decent explanation for Reed Richards’ behavior in Civil War.

The revelation is completely unexpected, at least in the Keeper’s eyes, and does not excuse Richards’ recent actions. However, it is completely in character for the absent-minded professor we’ve known and loved since Fantastic Four #1.

No spoilers here, but after reading FF #542 the Keeper wishes McDuffie wrote the main Civil War series.

Maybe then the “event” would have lived up to its hype.

The All-New Mary Marvel

Mary Over City

Here’s a preview of Jeff Smith’s Mary Marvel, taken from the creator’s eagerly awaited Monster Society of Evil mini-series.

It’s no secret that your humble Keeper is a stubborn traditionalist, but this looks like one revamp that could work.

The character always possessed a youthful sense of spunk, and it makes sense that a small child would pick “Mary Marvel” as a codename.

Plus, the interaction between young Mary and the “adult” Captain Marvel should make for interesting reading.

We’re also interested to see how comics fans react to this Mary, given that many of our fellow readers seem to like children about as much as W.C. Fields.

Can’t wait for this book …
