Thanks to Jeph Loeb, the pre-Crisis Supergirl has been saddled with an overly chirpy, bubble-headed image that does not reflect her true personality.
Sure she was nice, but the original Kara Zor-El was capable of taking the kid gloves off when the chips were down.
After all, have you ever seen Linda Danvers, Power Girl, Cir-El or Kara 2.0 wrestle a maniacal gorilla?
We think not.

Yeah Klassic Kara hada temper…she’d blow her stack now and again, especially in her early 1970’s run in Adventure Comics.

Which was another reason I always preferred her to Kal El (I mean aside from the hourglass figure the statue-esque bosom the long legs and the trademark miniskirt)
Power Girl would scream and jump on a chair if a Gorilla charges her like that…
(OKay dumb image but it’s late and I’m tired)
Excuse me? Someone hasn’t been doing their research. In only the *fourth* issue of her solo series Linda Danvers wrestles with THE maniacal gorilla: GORILLA GRODD.
I rest my case.
Actually, I own the sadly out-of-print TPB that reprinted those issues. Guess I forgot about it.
Before giving you the Fortress equivalent of a No-Prize, though, let’s see if I can weasle out of this. I won’t split hairs and claim it was “Matrix” instead of Linda, since I have an even lamer argument.
Linda did in fact fight Grodd, and in a Hardcore Chuck moment I believe even impaled the telepathic ape.
But at no time do I remember a wrestling hold being applied, ala Kara’s rather awesome Sleeper. (Eat your heart, Triple H.)
That’s the best I got.
In the meantime, consider yourself “Fo-Prized.” (Ouch.)
