We’ve praised Mike Carey’s X-Men for its bad-a$$ portrayal of Rogue, the Keeper’s favorite bad-girl-gone-good.
So why oh why, in the Marvel preview for the January X-Men annual, do we get a cover depicting Anna (or Marion, or whatever her name is) lying prone and wearing a strategically ripped costume?
The injured hero may be a classic cover motif, but we never recall seeing pictures of an unconscious Spider-Man or Wolverine with their shorts ripped open.
Oh well, looks like the Keeper will be forced to vote with his wallet and ignore yet another X-book.
In the meantime, we’ll always have our memories of a truly bad-a$$ Rogue who easily held her own with a certain berserker anti-hero …
