Is it Monday already?
Although the Keeper originally intended to take a few more days off , our sense of duty demands we emerge from the Fortress and acknowledge the untimely demise of actress Tamara Dobson.
The youngsters in the blogoverse may not recognize her name, but to your ever nostalgic host she will always be remembered as the one and only Cleopatra Jones.
Back in the days when Richard Roundtree (Shaft), Fred Williamson (Black Caesar) and Pam Grier (Foxy Brown) ruled the box office, Dobson laid down the law as the funkiest, most outrageous action star of all.
Cleopatra Jones was an a$$-kicking federal agent who cracked down on drugs and looked fabulous in the process. She was a master of kung fu in high heels and a crack shot who wasn’t above sporting fur coats.
Put simply, she was “10 miles of bad road for every hood in town!”
With her towering fro and bad attitude, Jones undoubtedly inspired a certain Misty Knight - one-half of the ever-awesome Daughters of the Dragon …
Rest in peace Ms. Dobson. We dedicate our 300th post to your memory.
