The Keeper abandoned the Fortress last night to attend a martial arts exhibition hosted by legendary master Ernie Reyes Sr.
Although your humble host’s knowledge of martial arts begins and ends with Kung Fu, Enter The Dragon and assorted Iron Fist comics, Fortress Boy has taken an interest in the ancient discipline and has even achieved the rank of gold belt.
The event, which featured hundreds of students and instructors testing for black belts, had its share of amazing moments: men and women of all ages seemingly defied gravity and the laws of physics at least once.
Reyes himself had an astounding build for a man nearing 60 and could have probably annihilated anyone in the room at a given moment.
Yet, the Keeper must admit that none of Reyes’ achievements were quite as impressive in our eyes as the time Karate Kid delivered a roundhouse kick to a falling meteorite.
Now that’s a martial arts exhibition!
