With DC’s Infinite Crisis consuming the company’s monthly titles, the Fortress Keeper has noticed that many titles - including such old favorites as Superman and JLA - are either marking time or slowly winding down in preparation for the jump to “One Year Later.”
The number of titles trapped in transition doesn’t necessarily make compelling reading, but the latest issue of Teen Titans did catch the Fortress Keeper by surprise.
The recap of Superboy Prime’s rampage wasn’t particularly interesting, but a significant event occurred in the story’s margins: The real Doom Patrol returned.
The Doom Patrol who fought weird and campy menaces under the watchful eyes of Arnold Drake and Grant Morrison.
The Doom Patrol who adopted Beast Boy. The Doom Patrol who sacrificed their lives to save a small fishing village. The Doom Patrol who defeated the Brotherhood of Dada.
In other words, The Doom Patrol who were tossed aside by John Byrne.
Between this and his recent resurrection of the fab Kid Eternity, the Keeper is beginning to believe that Geoff Johns is a pretty cool guy.
Now if he could only do something about that four-armed gorilla…
